8/23/2023 0 Comments Pelvic rest for low lying placentaI won't have people here to help me until I get back on my feet after a c section so if I'm borderline 2 then Im okay with the c section because a healthy momma and baby is what's important but if I'm past 2 I'm going to have to do something about my doctor who won't try to deliver. ![]() The danger lies in the fact that the anomaly does not manifest itself in any way. I've also read that many doctors consider it safer to induce with a placenta that's lower (2-3cm) so that they can be prepared and watch for bleeding, have you ready for a c section just in case. Low lying placenta is a complication of pregnancy, which is characterized by the localization of the baby’s place in the lower segment of the uterus, closer than 6 cm from its internal pharynx. My doctor is crazy with his 5cm rule- his reasoning is that when the cervix dilated to 10 he wants it completely out of the way but from what I've read cervix opens and gets longer etc moving frm the placenta which is why 2 cm is sufficient. 2cm is what I've read for delivery and what a doctor I met with a few days ago told me. Not a good thing because now I want nothing to do with my husband lol I'm hoping it will pass though! It's interesting that your placenta moved back down! They usually continue to go up. The pelvic rest used to really bother me and I thought I'd go crazy but now it's like that part of me has completely shut off. Haha I've been on pelvic rest and bed rest since week 14. The term is usually applied when the placental edge is within 0.5-5.0 cm of the internal cervical os 1. Is anyone else sick and tired of complete pelvic rest? Low-lying placenta occurs when the placenta extends into the lower uterine segment and its edge lies too close to the internal os of the cervix, without covering it. Now that it's marginal, she will let me carry my baby until 38 weeks, but she'll move up the cesarean if I start having frequent contractions or bleeds between now and then. When I was complete previa, my doctor scheduled a cesarean for 37 weeks even if I don't bleed. I've read several medical journal reports with the same recommendation based on research, so I'm sure she's following the best available advice. No bleeds so no bedrest for me, but my doctor won't even consider a vaginal delivery unless it's 2cm. My placenta was "close to the cervix" at 20 weeks, 0.5cm away at 23 weeks (at the maternal fetal doctor), covering at 27 weeks, and 1cm at 33 weeks. It's so hard to find useful information about there when you are somewhere in between (a) complete previa with severe bleeding and (b) somewhat low-lying placenta but far enough away for delivery. Nice to know there are some other March mommas with marginal previas or low lying placentas.
